About the event
The goal of this 8hr course is simple – help locate missing search subjects faster. The faster they are found, the smaller the number of resources needed and most important of all, the better the chances of being found alive. Looking in the right place is the cornerstone to every successful operation.
The class will be taught by Roger Fox, a former Coordinator from Oswego County Search and Rescue, former Chairman of New York State Search and Rescue Teams, former Navy Search and Rescue Pilot, and National SAR School Graduate.
This workshop is open to any local law enforcement and search and rescue agency personnel. Attendees will review types of statistical information from 41 subject categories from the International Search & Rescue Incident Database (ISRID). Class excercises will teach the ability to pinpoint the most likely areas to search, then determine initial tasks quickly using reflex tasking, the bike wheel model, and quick consensus.
Students are expected to purchase Lost Person Behavior by Robert Koester (required and provided at class) for $32 due on 7/20 . Lost Person Behavior app is also available through Google play or Apple Store (optional) for $10.
The class is expected to fill up fast so don't wait to sign-up. Class is limited to 24 students. View this video highlighted by NBC News.
